القدس – قال سيادة المطران عطا الله حنا رئيس اساقفة سبسطية للروم الارثوذكس اليوم بأننا نقف الى جانب اهلنا في حي الشيخ جراح كما وفي غيرها من الاحياء المقدسية التي يستهدف سكانها الفلسطينيين بسياسات التهجير والاقصاء والاقتلاع وهنالك حملة عالمية تقام بمبادرة من الكنائس والمرجعيات الروحية المسيحية في عدد من الدول بهدف التعبير عن التضامن مع اهلنا في حي الشيخ جراح وكذلك العمل على وقف سياسات التهجير الظالمة .
والمبادرة المسيحية الفلسطينية هي ريادية في هذا النشاط الهادف الى ايصال صوتنا كفلسطينيين الى كافة الكنائس المسيحية في العالم ، واليكم البيان الذي وقعت عليه عدة كنائس وشخصيات دينية مسيحية في امريكا واوروبا واستراليا وغيرها من الاماكن تضامنا مع اهلنا في الشيخ جراح وفي غيرها من الاحياء المقدسية المستهدفة .
Stop Israel’s Ethnic Cleansing of Palestinians from Jerusalem!
Over 1,500 Palestinians from neighborhoods in Jerusalem are facing the imminent threat of forced evictions and home demolitions by Israeli authorities. Children make up a large percentage of the families threatened with homelessness.

Recently an Israeli court has ruled in favor of Jewish settlers and given four families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood until May 2nd to vacate their homes. There is also a looming threat of massive home demolitions in the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan to make way for an allegedly bible-inspired “King David Park” project.

This is part of Israel’s larger plan of racist colonial expansion throughout East Jerusalem and the West Bank, displacing Palestinian families from their land and homes and replacing them with illegal Israeli settlements.

Two of the primary settler organizations driving these evictions, Nahalat Shimon International and Ateret Cohanim, respectively are registered and have tax-deductible charity status in the United States, from where they receive the majority of their funding.

We call on the U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to demand an end to illegal evictions of Palestinians and demolitions of their homes.

“What we are witnessing in Sheikh Jarrah is Israel’s attempt to erase the Palestinian presence from our native city in real time,” says Mohammed El-Kurd, whose family is among those set to be forcefully evicted on May 2. “This fate of dispossession looms over much of my neighborhood. Our lives are consumed by the anxiety of living on the brink of homelessness.”
